Jury Science is a growing field in the understanding of the selection, prediction, strategic approach and manipulation of individual jurors and total panels. The idea of understanding and playing to the jury is not new. Far from it, the concept of having a juror of one's peers has always been an imperfect one and finding inroads into the mind of the jury goes all the way back to the Salem Witch Trials. While the results of those cases are infamous, the idea that jurors can be influenced in a variety of ways, whether it is emotional manipulation or fear of public outrage, is as true today as ever.

With newer technology, such as Social Media and the 24 hour news cycle, there is a heightened sense of it all and the pressure is all the more prevalent. Having the skill of selecting a jury, understanding how the jury would react to a variety of approaches and being able to see a verdict before it is handed down can be the keys to success.

Seeing how the jury might react to different things can lead to strategies being chosen that can put opposing counsel in the most unfavorable light. This can lead to the alienation of the jury from their side which can lead to victory. Knowing what the likely verdict would be ahead of time could lead to strategic choices for settlement that might prevent and adverse verdict, or a plea bargain that could prevent further disruption of one's life.

Further, knowing the difference between a leader and someone who follows can be important when studying a jury. Having a follower that may be inclined to vote against your case is far less dangerous than a leader that could convince others to join the other side. A follower might be more willing to be led by a leader that believes in your side.

There are a lot of things that they teach in law school, but there are also a lot of things that they don't focus on. We call these the soft skills. We have training programs to work on the soft skills as well as other aspects of being an attorney that can help in unique ways because we come from a different perspective.

Understanding how the brain operates can help you to understand the decision process of others, predict their behavior and response to questions, and enable you to guide them to where you want them to be and to say what you want them to say. Elements of this include Emotional Intelligence, Empathy, and Mental Manipulation.

Preparing a witness is a multi-faceted process. While you may know what you should or should not do on the stand or during a deposition, your clients and your witnesses often do not. It isn't about your knowledge, it is understanding how to teach that is important. We help prepare you for this process.

ORATORY - OPENING AND CLOSING ARGUMENTS

For litigation attorneys, the ability to present in front of jurors is key to success. This is all about the ability to relate information, be confident, be clear and succinct, and to exude the essence of being righteous in what you are letting the others know. Simply put, present as if you completely believe in the innocence of your client. We can help with speeches to make that happen.

MEDIA TRAINING

The world has changed. More and more, major cases are decided with some amount of influence by media coverage. The ability to control the narrative in public without violating court orders can be the key to a successful effort at winning the battle in court as well as helping your client after the case is over in the world of public opinion. Media manipulation can also make or break careers.

USING STATUS

A lot of the maneuvers in a courtroom, during a deposition, and certainly during negotiations, is about status. Lawyers learn over years of experience about the advantage gained by simply presenting oneself as if they are in a stronger position than they actually are. This is all about skills every actor knows and that we can teach. It is a soft-skill that is often neglected.
