Developing the skills required for being a quality attorney takes a lot more than is taught in law school. The first time that an attorney enters a courtroom, everything is new. Each person that they interact with is a new challenge and often the younger attorneys can be taken by surprise, and it is their clients that are harmed.

Through role playing, our professional actors can assist attorneys in a variety of ways to simulate situations that they will find themselves in. We can walk them through those scenarios and make them more comfortable with it for when the real event will occur. This can take a variety of forms, including:

MOCK TRIALS

Sometimes an attorney needs a backdrop to try different things in front of a live courtroom. THEY improv can breathe life into a mock trial with the characters you would have. This can allow for experimentation and repetition until the lawyer finds the correct strategic approach to achieve success. We can bring judges, jurors, opposing counsel and others depending on budget and desire for reality.

DEPOSITIONS

One of the more common activities for cases is the deposition. Often this takes place in unusual locations or under strange circumstances. The participants in the room can be off-putting and the human element can be costly. Professional actors can play the variety of characters that may be in the room and help an attorney to gain greater control over the situation.

TRANSCRIPT READINGS

Reading hours and hours of transcripts can lose the human element. THEY improv can provide actors to help bring transcripts to life and assist attorneys in having a better understanding of the content. Our actors can also adjust the reading to portray different emotions or analyze the content for potential other meanings.

CLASS ACTION MEMBERS

Keeping members of a class action require specialized skills to maintain their focus on their common interest. Our actors can portray characters from different backgrounds and interests to help facilitate running through scenarios to prepare for larger meetings of groups of members of the class as well as to meet with them one on one.

WITNESS PREP

Preparing a witness is a multi-faceted process. By playing potential witnesses, we can help you to understand where miscommunication is occuring and how to prepare your witnesses to avoid problems. Likewise, from the other side, we could help you prepare for cross examinations.

JURY SCIENCE

We can role play as jurors to assist in both the Voir Dire process along with providing feedback for different strategies utilized along the way. We can get into the characters you wish for us to portray and provide you with perspective on how to reach them.

MASK WORK
We utilize a concept in acting called Mask Work. The idea is that when you are playing a character, you can feel free to not be self conscious because the person behind the mask of the character isn't being judged. We can still play the guilt, remorse, deception, anger, or other qualities that the character would have, just without the person playing the character pre-judging their actions. This allows for a more accurate portrayal of role-playing. Non-actors don't understand that concept and can give their performance more of a flat feel.

Brainstorming. Throwing ideas around can be a daunting task. We can provide creative people to help this process or to teach your attorneys how to be more creative themselves. Likewise, these players can take on more specific roles to come up with ideas from a particular type of person's perspective.

Law Enforcement. Going beyond the trial, we can help recreate cases through playing law enforcement officials walking through their actions, criminals in their actions or replaying past scenarios to train officers of the court as well as law enforcement how to enforce the law within the boundaries of acceptable behavior.

CONFIDENTIALITY
We understand the need for confidentiality and review all such agreements to ensure a level of secrecy to maintain your relationship with your clients. We will usually not take control of work product and rather not take any material off-location to help ensure our relationships with our clients.
