Scavenger Hunts for Law Firms

Attorney Bonding and Team Building Through Fun Activities

they improvThe legal professions are stressful. Sometimes to bond the people who work together in even the most successful practice requires getting out of the office and forgetting about work for awhile. Tying the need to get away from the office with bonding the staff together is a scavenger hunt.

Fundamentally, a scavenger hunt is where a group of people are divided into teams and each team looks for things in a space. For us, usually this means going to a public area such as a downtown, a shopping district or even a mall in the case of bad weather. Participants are looking at everything in the area, from fire hydrants to simple items in the windows of stores. Questions might ask what Elmira provided for the area (where the fire hydrants were made in Elmira, NY) or what Victoria is hiding (Victoria's Secret). There are easy answers, hard answers and borderline impossible answers. They vary from straight-forward to puns or associative nightmares. Each team gets roughly the same questions so if a question is impossible they are equally disadvantaged.

In addition to these questions, teams are asked to take group photos in front of certain items and are challenged to do something with that photo. By way of example, they may be asked to take a photo in front of a restaurant looking hungry. The hungriest photo would gain extra points.

We often convert a law firm scavenger hunt into more of an Amazing Race where we have facilitators in the field that would put your people through bonding games. These team building exercises feel like they are just games that are part of the scavenger hunt to gain extra points. This allows them to enjoy the event and not think about the bonding exercises that they are getting.

After a set amount of time, usually 90-180 minutes, we would have the participants meet at a specified location of your choosing to have a happy hour or lunch/dinner. While your people are enjoying themselves in a festive atmosphere, our facilitators are busy scoring the answer sheets so that we can have an awards presentation before the end of the happy hour.

The winning team is generally given relatively small prizes, but not insignificant prizes. We want people to enjoy them and keep them, but not feel too upset that they didn't win them. After all, the purpose is to bond the participants and not to have them resent teammates.

An add-on to the law firm scavenger hunt might be for us to collect these photos, likely being sent via text, and projecting them at the post-event happy hour or dinner. These photos could also be sent to someone from your staff for future use at later events, or for blackmail!

THEY improv has worked with over half of the Fortune 500. This means that we have successfully provided a wide variety of programs that have achieved great success for our clients. We now bring those skills more specifically tailored to the legal environment.

We are also one of the only team building companies in the country that can provide you with bad weather alternatives. Rather than simply canceling an event due to rain, we provide you with a selection of options including our improv workshops designed to get people to laugh and have a good time together. These are usually a bit more expensive so we've had clients hoping for rain to get this workshop instead at no additional cost.

Contact us to discuss the variety of options that we can provide for your group and locations that may be convenient for your bonding needs. We look forward to hearing from you.

We understand the need for confidentiality and review all such agreements to ensure a level of secrecy to maintain your relationship with your clients.
