THEY improv provides a variety of lawyer skills programs including mock trials using professional actors assisting attorneys and others in the law firm to experience the circumstances of a case prior to entering the actual courtroom. Providing more than a simple sounding board for hearing elements of a case, THEY improv works to recreate the environment to better prepare the attorneys, paralegals, or others, for the case to come.

Being better prepared for an actual case can mean all the difference between victory and defeat. While for an attorney this can be the difference between being elated or depressed, for a client it can be the difference between freedom and incarceration.

The circumstances in a courtroom are deadly serious and the importance of being prepared for what is to come can't be overstated. One of the most obvious ways of assisting in being prepared for entering the court is to have already experienced it.

THEY improv brings professional actors to play the roles of people in the courtroom. We work hard to recreate the circumstances of an actual case to enable the attorney and his team to experience the environment of a courtroom and experiment with different approaches to determine viability of different tactics as well as to simply become more comfortable.

MASK WORK
We utilize a concept in acting called Mask Work. The idea is that when you are playing a character, you can feel free to not be self conscious because the person behind the mask of the character isn't being judged. We can still play the guilt, remorse, deception, anger, or other qualities that the character would have, just without the person playing the character pre-judging their actions. This allows for a more accurate portrayal of role-playing. Non-actors don't understand that concept and can give their performance more of a flat feel.

Having had a dry run at presenting a case can make the actual presentation that much stronger and we have a variety of techniques that we can use to critique and improve presentations.

Our actors can use actual dialogue from witnesses pre-trial depositions as a way of better inhabiting the characters of participants and give a more real-world feel to the proceedings.
